Thermal interface material (TIM)

Close-up of a series of power modules arranged in a grid. The thermal interface material is visible.

Power modules equipped with IGBTs or MOSFETs can generate significant losses. TIMs are less thermally conductive than the heatsink, DCB, and semiconductor so they have to be very thin to transfer heat efficiently.

Vincotech provides dxf drawings to customers who would rather apply their own TIM than buy power modules with pre-applied TIM.

Boosting performance, reliability and efficiency with pre-applied TIM

Thermal management directly impacts a system’s performance and longevity. Pre-applied thermal paste and phase-change materials improve heat transfer and eliminate inconsistencies associated with manual application.
Pre-applied TIM reduces unit-to-unit variability, stabilizes production processes and delivers consistent thermal performance across the product’s lifecycle. This makes it a compelling solution for next-generation power modules for industrial and renewable energy systems.

Pre-applied thermal grease for MiniSKiiP® only

Vincotech MiniSKiiP® power modules are available with factory-applied thermal grease. Stencil printing creates a uniform, ultra-thin layer that maximizes heat transfer and improves long-term reliability.

Minimizes thermal resistance with ultra-thin layer

Protecting the thermal interface material

TIM surfaces can smear, scratch or collect particles and dust during transport, handling, soldering and PCB assembly. Vincotech offers caps and foils to prevent contamination and damage.

ProCap 0 and ProCap 1

ProCaps protect thermal grease and phase-change material on flow 0 and flow 1 power modules, while a protective foil shields power modules with pre-applied phase change material.

Two gray rectangular ProCap models are shown, labeled "upper view" and "bottom view," each featuring tabs on the sides and corners.
